RESURRECTION CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS BOYS' GOLF CLAIMS STATE TITLE AT RAINDANCE NATIONAL

There are very few aspects of RainDance National Resort & Golf in Windsor, CO that the Resurrection Christian Schools boys’ golf team hasn’t experienced.

As the home course for the Northern Colorado high school golf powerhouse, RCS held a distinct advantage over the rest of the field during Monday and Tuesday’s Class 3A state tournament.

The Cougars not only conduct nearly all their practice rounds at the year-old 18-hole course in the RainDance master-planned community of Windsor, but they also spend countless hours on The G.O.A.T. Ranch short game facility and understand every nook and cranny of the course.

This distinct knowledge is one of the many reasons why the Cougars captured the school’s first boys’ golf state championship with a two-day score of 456 (24-over par).

RCS held an eight-shot advantage going into the second round and extended the lead by 16 more on solid play from its top three players.

Sophomore Jack Carter (74-75 – 149) tied for second, junior Graham Riggs (75-78 – 153) finished fourth and sophomore Clint Summers (75-79 – 154) took fifth. Sophomore Micah Livingstone (86-81 – 167) tied for 21st out of 84 players.

Battling gusty winds and cooler morning temperatures, RCS outlasted 13 other schools to achieve school history.

“I’m proud of these kids and their work ethic,” said longtime RCS head coach, Windsor resident and Windsor High School graduate Rick Meis. “They deserve all the credit. They played a big-boy course and won.”

RCS finished second at last year’s state event held at Pinehurst Country Club in Denver while wearing “The DANCE” RainDance hats and vowed to capture this year’s event while wearing the exact same style of hat.

“Doesn’t it look cool?” Meis asked of the large lettering on the players’ hats. “I’m pretty proud of this golf course and I’m pretty proud (RainDance National) allowed us to host this event.”

Claiming individual honors was junior Om Mathur of Peak to Peak who carded scores of 70-77 to win by two strokes. Peak to Peak also finished runner-up with a two-day finish of 475 and 19 strokes behind RCS.

Congratulations to the entire Resurrection Christian Schools boys’ golf program on the championship! The entire staff at RainDance National is proud of the accomplishment of the team!
